Norma J. Bailey has spent all of her professional life in the field of education.  She earned her teaching certificate from Kalamazoo College, her master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College, and her doctorate in middle level education from the University of Northern Colorado.  Her primary teaching experience includes teaching young adolescents for 20 years in a junior high (1970-1972) and in a middle school (1972-1991) in southwestern Michigan.  Norma has also done numerous presentations and in-services regarding mathematics, needs and characteristics of young adolescents, middle level education, team planning, integrated curriculum, and gay and lesbian youth issues in Colorado, Michigan, Maine, and Louisiana.  Norma presently is an associate professor of middle level teacher education at Central Michigan University, teaching both undergraduate and graduate course in middle level education.  In her leisure time, she thoroughly enjoys hiking with her dog Keli, playing softball in the summer, and tending her garden and flower beds.
